Steve offers clients an exceptional technical knowledge of taxation, business planning and business management services. These clients include high net worth individuals and closely-held businesses. Steve’s training and experience, gained while working with both national and smaller firm clients, delivers a unique perspective and resource to the entire Sobul, Primes & Schenkel team.
The Journey
In 1969, when Steve was eight years old, he came into the possession of a Nolan Ryan rookie baseball card. Steve can't say exactly how it happened, but it most likely was the result of a trade for some gum or a player none of us would remember anyway. The card is one of the most notable members of his collection. If you ask him about all the things he has saved and organized since childhood, Steve will tell you that it is a testimony to the organized thinking that has always been a fundamental part of who he is.
Steve was drawn to accounting because he liked the way things fit together like a puzzle. Each piece with its own characteristics, but all part of the whole. It is this outside perspective of business that makes Steve a natural in the role of business advisor.
After graduating from UC Santa Barbara with honors, Steve was recruited by an international accounting firm that offered the lure of good training, discipline, and professionalism. So he went there to learn everything he could. Steve started out on the Audit side and then moved into Tax to deal with big picture issues and to work more closely with clients. He was soon looking for an opportunity where he could be more hands-on, work hard on the business and personal financial needs of the client, and still balance his commitment to family and friends; Sobul, Primes & Schenkel was the perfect fit.
