Richard J. Schenkel, CPA

Managing Shareholder
Rick Schenkel is the shareholder primarily responsible for the firm’s Business Consulting, Entertainment, and Personal Financial Planning Departments. Over the years, Rick has worked with individual clients, developing a unique understanding of their special needs. He has been a shareholder since 1985.
The Journey
During his college years, when Rick wasn't studying accounting, he was hanging out at the Comedy Store. Richard Pryor and Steve Martin were some of his favorites, but the number one was Rich Little, master of impressions.
Rick took the stage on amateur night at the Comedy Store. He also worked at the Busch Gardens theater and emceed events at CSUN and private parties. But the pinnacle of Rick's career as a performer came as the disc jockey at the Tam O'Shanter Room at the Holiday Inn in the heart of beautiful downtown Van Nuys, on those wild nights known as "Disco Samba".
Not surprisingly, Rick's professional career is motivated by the people side of accounting. It's a rare talent in an industry that too often focuses only on numbers. Rick's approach has naturally led to an interest in personal financial planning, working with people to make the most of their financial opportunities. And it should be of no great surprise that Rick helped to develop Sobul, Primes & Schenkel's Entertainment Department. After all, he used to be in the business.
