Mark has always liked numbers. He remembers growing up as a kid and working at his grandfather’s plant nursery. Mark ran the cash register and helped customers, which he thought was a lot better than getting his hands dirty working with the plants. Looking back on it, this was probably where his love of helping others and providing great customer service started.
Mark has always had a passion for sports, especially baseball. His family has had seats at Dodger Stadium since the day it opened, so he was able to watch his hometown team his entire life. This passion for baseball stayed with Mark throughout his career as a player, and along with hard work, gave him the opportunity to play for the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) baseball team. During his time at UCSB, he developed a new passion, which was for public accounting.
Building strong teams has always been important to Mark. He coached kids’ basketball growing up and then was an assistant coach for the UCSB baseball team during his final year. It’s this passion for developing talented people and creating strong teams that has helped Mark become such a valued manager at SPS. That, along with his commitment to taking great care of customers, or in this case clients, would no doubt make his grandfather very proud.
