Despite having parents with decades of experience in public and corporate accounting, Kyle Taylor had to find his own way to public accounting. A child of the IT “boom” of the 1970’s and ‘80s in Silicon Valley, it was natural for Kyle to develop an interest in technology and moreover the processes that are improved through technology. “I was very lucky having two small business owners as parents and even luckier that one of the businesses was involved in public accounting and the other semiconductor development. This type of exposure only reinforced my interest in improving processes via technology and the positive impact it has not just on businesses, but people’s lives.”
“But it wasn’t only about the ‘techie stuff’ growing up,” says Kyle. “There is a strong commitment to swimming in my family. My three sisters and I began swimming competitively from the ages of 6 or 7, eventually reaching more senior and international qualifying times in our teens.” It’s this type of commitment and discipline that has shaped a lot of Kyle’s beliefs and his dedication to whatever he does. To this day, most mornings you can still find Kyle in the water training at the swim club or at the occasional pick-up water polo game. “Believe me, no one will question your commitment once they’ve seen you walk across a freezing outdoor pool deck at 5 AM in a Speedo.”
It is his belief in commitment and discipline, coupled with his interest in improving processes in businesses through technology that eventually led Kyle to his career in public accounting and to SPS. Joining SPS as an intern, Kyle has experienced a lot of what SPS has to offer not only its clients but also its employees. “It’s that family-style and balanced environment that I believe helps us provide the absolute best service possible to our clients.”
