As well as full responsibility for a number of clients, Chris is an exceptional internal resource for tax matters, especially those relating to Estates and Trusts. The firm's integrated approach to accounting allows each client to benefit from his great depth and breadth of tax experience. Chris has been with the firm since 1981, and became a shareholder in 1989.
The Journey
Chris realized early on that he loved restoring old cars. Not just giving them a fresh coat of paint, but taking them apart, piece by piece. It began when Chris was sixteen years old. He got a hold of some books and workshop manuals to learn the technical knowledge he needed, then proceeded to remove small parts, clean them, and reassemble them.
"You get an old car that's horribly corroded, but you can still see the hidden beauty. British cars from the fifties and sixties have great detail and character. Little knobs and gauges, leather interiors, the car-maker's emblem cast in different parts of the engine. There's a lot of brass and polished aluminum around the cars."
Chris has a 1957 MGA Coupe which took two years to rebuild. The car has copper water pipes, even a polished brass plate that is engraved with the firing order of the cylinders and valve clearance. Then there's the 1962 Triumph TR4 that has been in the family since 1963. And Chris' pride and joy, the 1966 Jaguar XKE two seater that he bought back in back 1984.
"Each car has its own character. You have to work hard to make sure all of the details are taken care of. It's the only way to get the right results. Something that is technically right. That's where the beauty lies in these old cars."
